Holden Series II Glimpse of What Saturn Could Have Been

The Holden vehicles are GM Australia’s answer to Saturn, except they’re still producing cars. Their all new Series II is a look into what the Saturn Vue could have been. Holden Australia unveiled the new Series II Captivas, ahead of their launch later this year. The Captiva 7, pictured here, has a new hood, aggressive front fascia, and restyled lighting units – but still looks like a Saturn. Oh how we remember…

World Car Fans helps us out with specs: Under the hood, three new engines are available. The 2.4-liter four-cylinder produces 123kW (165 hp / 167 PS), while the Commodore-sourced 3.0-liter SIDI V6 churns out 190 kW (255 hp / 258 PS). If you’re a fan of alternative fuels, you’ll be delighted to know the company also offers a 2.2-liter diesel that develops 135 kW (181 hp / 184 PS).

General Motors shared its designs around the world – from Saturn an Buick, to Holden and Opel (which still shares ideas with Chevy to this day). Maybe one day GM will revive the lost Saturn, and quality Holden-type cars will return to The States.
