Saturn has turned their Vue into the world’s first front wheel drive compact SUV hybrid. Dubbed Saturn Vue Green Line 2 Mode the company debuted this Vue at the 2008 NAIAS in Detroit. The 2009 Saturn Vue Green Hybrid is powered by GM’s 3.6 liter V6 with added direct injection technology. The engine is expected to deliver 50% better fuel economy than the non-hybrid V6 Vue. Whats more exciting? This hybrid reaches zero-to-60 in about 7 seconds.

What is this ‘2 Mode’ concept? It’s a Saturn (well, GM) plan to combine the performance of a hybrid vehicle with the utility of a SUV. If you’re the type of person who wants fantastic fuel economy from a larger automobile, but thinks something similar to your average crossover is a bit small for your clan, GM thinks you’ll fall in love with the economical friendliness and size of the new Vue Green Line 2 Hybrid. Green Line 2 Mode Vue’s features include lightweight alloy wheels with low-resistance tires, chrome door handles, chrome dual exhaust tips, chrome skid plates on the front and…well…more than enough chrome for your family, and other drivers, to enjoy.

Production is set for late 2008 so Saturn can add their other upcoming hybrid vehicles to showroom line up at almost the same time.

A key choice for choosing a small roadster, the Sky is revamped this year with plenty of new additions and features that make it more appealing. Although not as efficient, the 2008 Saturn Sky’s styling looks more like an athletic driver’s car compared to its Miata and Solstice competitors.

The Sky is available in two trim lines: base and the more proficient Red Line. Eighteen-inch wheels, automatic headlights, full power accessories, an auxiliary jack, satellite radio and air conditioning are just some of the standard features for the base. The Premium Trim Package adds a leather steering wheel with audio and cruise controls, leather upholstery and a metallic interior trim. The Red Line, similar to the Premium Trim Package, additionally has a sport-tuned suspension and performance tires. Mix and matching interior and exterior colors is also an option for customers.

The Saturn Sky gets up to 19 mpg in the city and a range of 24-28 on the highway. The 2.4-liter engine at four cylinders produces 172 horsepower. Sky Red Line, which reaches zero to 60 mpg in 5.8 seconds, has an Ecotec turbocharged 2.0-liter engine, delivering 260 horsepower at 5,300 rpm.

Having more appealing aspects then the federal tax break, this compact-crossover is a wise decision for consumers right now. Its more comparable gas mileage and strong features prove that this hybrid isn’t leaving the top ranks soon.

A much sleeker front end and angled roofline appeals to the SUVs attraction. Automatic headlights, 17-inch alloy wheels, keyless entry, full power accessories, OnStar, steering wheel-mounted audio controls, satellite radio and a six-speaker stereo with a single-CD/MP3 player are all included with the 2008 Saturn Vue hybrid. An optional Comfort and Convenience Package adds heated mirrors, eight-way power driver seat, rain-sensing wipers, leather-wrapped steering wheel and a universal garage door opener. The Premium Trim Package adds more leather upholstery and heated front seats.

Available only in front-wheel drive, the Vue Green Line is powered by a 2.4-liter four-cylinder gasoline engine which produces up to 172 horsepower. Estimated fuel economy for the city is 25 mpg, while the highway is 32 mpg.

First-class treatment is the only option inside the Vue. From the chrome-accented climate controls to the brushed-aluminum accents on the door panels, this hybrid flaunts the characteristic features that make it more one of a kind.

The Aura Green Line Hybrid lacks in performance compared to most other hybrid sedans, but is the most inexpensive of its kind. More tasteful and confident looking than any other car that Saturn has produced; the Saturn Aura is spacious and will please most buyers.

Available in only one trim level, equipment included is as follows: 16-inch wheels, full power accessories, a trip computer, automatic climate control, cloth upholstery and a CD stereo with satellite radio. The Preferred Packaged includes more features.

Under the hood, the Aura Hybrid is equipped with a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine and electric motor/generator. This produces a collective 164-horsepower at 6,400 rpm. It also includes a four-speed automatic transmission.

Significantly larger headlights embrace the sleek profile of the Green Line’s exterior. Looking primarily like conventional Aura’s, the Hybrid is differentiated via the front doors and trunklid.

The Aura Green Line is standard with antilock disc brakes, traction control, stability control and the OnStar emergency communications system. In frontal- and side-impact crash tests, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration awarded five stars for the Aura.

Smaller tires than the regular Aura, the Aura Green Line gives a more comfortable ride. Although, it’s can’t hit zero to sixty as quickly as the Camry Hybrid or Prius, the overall driving experience lives up to the familiarity of Saturn’s Auras.

The four-door hatchback has either an XE or XR trim level, while the two-door is prepped with the higher XR trim level. The XE body trim is furnished with 16-inch wheels, a CD player, trip computer, full power accessories, cruise control and rain-sensing wipers. The XR trim adds alloy wheels, an upgraded audio system and air-conditioning. Most of the XR features are optional on the XE trim.

Equipped with a 1.8-liter engine, the front-wheel-drive Astra produces 138-horsepower and 126 pound-feet of torque. Across the ocean, the model offers other engines such as diesels and turbos.

Incorporating OnStar and a one year of complimentary Safe and Sound Service, the 2008 Saturn Astra includes plenty of standard safety features. Frontal airbags, side torso airbags for the front seats, active head restraints and side curtains are included.

More aggressive than the Chevy Cobalt and Honda Civic, you’ll get your moneys worth. Allowing a whole new consumer market is easy for the 2008 Saturn Astra.
